Ekim başında bir haftalığına Yunanistan’da, Atina’nın kuzeybatısındaki ünlü antik kent Thivas / Thebias’da (Thebes) sürmekte olan SPHINX 2015 (Sfenks 2015) etkinliklerine davetliyim.
Etkinlikler kapsamında 1 Ekim’de açılacak sergide “2011 yılında Avrupa’da çok küçük bir ada ya da çok yakında bütün Avrupa” adlı resmim sergilenecek. Ayrıca aynı hafta antik kentte yeralan iki ayrı meydanda iki ayrı etkinliğim sahne alıyor.
5 Ekim’de ise Thebes’in Sinikismos Meydanı’nda ise “Sazak’ın Dikenleri” ilk kez Yunanistan’da, açık havada, perdede gösterilecek. Sinikismos, 1922 yılında Anadolu, Küçük Asya’daki kırımdan kaçan, topraklarından sürülen sığınmacıların yerleştikleri meydan. Sanırım bu videomun gösterimi için iyi bir yer seçimi.

I think the words of German president Merkel “And of course, the approach [to build] a multicultural [society] and to live side-by-side and to enjoy each other… has failed, utterly failed” is the beginning of the new era that is a foresight future of Europe.
“The inter(s)a(n)ction of third individuations” is a work within a city-wide participatory art-research project using the digital, physical and human infrastructure of a festival, including Merkel’s manipulated speech in background and a “silent” dance event and a declaration of a possible different foresight.
The project aims for a “silent” dance event with 100 – 1000 volunteer participants with own free chosen playlist during 13:14 minutes, intends even for exhibit of those participants own reflections upon Merkel’s speech and their detailed playlist on website.
To find participants in Thebes through help and open calls from voluntary groups that works within anti racism, for future multi cultural European societies. The call will inform about the project; “silent” dance event, recording of own reflections and publishing playlists.
A comprehensive lab-working with individual recordings of the participants reflections of Merkel’s manipulated speech, and the playlists that participants will choose to listen with their own mp3/4 player with headphones while they dance in “silent” event.
The actual process will occur in a crowded square of city on the dates of the festival. Merkel’s manipulated speech will be on speakers, running gradually slowing, while the participants dance “silent”. The participants will be close-up recorded by moving cameras and the square will be recorded by multiple stable cameras during those 13:14 minutes.
The interactive presentation of the project on its own website will be available close after the date of performance. The website gives all visitors possibility to enter the different pages to check all participants reflections and playlists with their own cursors.
